A young girl, no more than 7, wandered the streets of her town. The sky was dark, but it almost seemed to lighten as she went. The stars were beginning to peek through the clouds. She went and sat on a bench near the river, her fingers twirling around something in her lap as she stared out over the water. She wasn't necessarily lonely, but she never really had anyone to be with. Her family was a proper silver family, and they were never particularly nice to her or anyone else. She smiled to herself. She had been with these people so long that it was a wonder how she stayed so kind. But she was so young, so naive, and she saw the best in everyone. She lived a sad life, even if she was a silver. She felt bad for the reds, wanted to help them, but didn't know how. She longed for a friend, but there was no one for her, not here.

The fourteen year old girl strolled down the streets with a sense of purpose. Her short, choppy, jet-black hair fanned out behind her as the slight evening wind blew, and her indigo eyes were the same color as the sky. She loved the nighttime; there was no one around to criticize her and she could goof off. Alena's face was a hard mask, pale and unforgiving. She walked quickly, and looked powerful with her lithe frame.
She remembered what had happened earlier that evening to make her go outside. Her father. She scowled a bit and a small piece of pavement no bigger than her ring finger blew up. She looked around, hoping she had not awoken anyone.
Queenstrial is coming up, he had said. You must marry a prince. You will bring honor to this family, as your brother did. If you become the wife of a prince, you will be honored beyond your wildest dreams and bring me honor. You shall give me the crown. If you do not, forget me as your father. And with that, he had slammed her bedroom door and locked it. She could have blown it up, yes, but she wished to be undisturbed. So here she was now.

The little girl heard the sudden explosion and let out a small yelp. As she did so, lightning flashed across the sky.

"Sorry," Alena said kindly. "I didn't mean to startle you." She looked curiously at the night sky, which just a moment before had held the lightning. "Was that your lightning?"

The girl blushed. "Yeah, sorry," she mumbled. "It just sort of happens sometimes. I- I'm still learning to control it."

"Same here," she said. "Did you hear me accidentally blow up the road?" she said with a giggle.

She smiled, letting out a very soft giggle. She liked this girl.

"I didn't catch your name."

"Sky," she said softly. She'd always disliked her name; sure, it was pretty, but it was a so... unusual. Eager to direct the girl's attention away from her name, Sky asked, "what's you name?"

"Alena." she said, pronouncing it like ah-LAY-na.

"Ah-lay-na," she repeated, smiling up at her.

She grinned. "How are you, Sky?"

"Good," she murmured. After a moment of thought, she asked, here eyes wide, "are you an oblivion?"
